Shared vs VPS
#1
Regardng Shared, I heard that poor php scripts by other users can slow things down quite a bit.  In that case, in what circumstances does the admin feel that a VPS is justified?  Well, obviously, one might be a site that has a lot of traffic.

If you have access to your own VPS rather than shared hosting then the resources are going to be more reliable.

All the hardware is dedicated to you alone, it's also a more secure environment - if configured right.

I have never used hosting other than shared hosting. I have a blog and I get moderate visitors (if the word is right for 5k monthly traffic). I also do not deal with secured data, therefore, I never have had any problem. Having said that I am also planning an ecommerce site. I want to start with a low fund, yet I am also considering better hosting package. Perhaps VPS can be a good option.

Yes Chameli,

I would advise against running a VPS without real knowledge of Linux, it could compromise your eCommerce website.

You would probably be better purchasing Managed VPS - it's completely administrated by the hosting provider, they manage your hosting for you.
